A health trust is providing mental health support for students receiving their exam results this month.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT) is offering assistance through a text messaging service, aimed at helping students who may feel anxious or overwhelmed with their AS and A-level results, which are due to be released on Thursday.
Jodie Olliver, Head of Mental Health Services at SPFT, emphasized the importance of recognizing stress, noting that many young people are under significant pressure and may not always identify the symptoms.
Students are encouraged to use the ‘Text SUSSEX to 85258’ service for support. This service offers a free, discreet, and confidential way for individuals to seek help via their mobile phones.
Ms. Olliver explained that extreme stress can manifest in physical symptoms such as stomach issues, insomnia, and headaches, and may lead to difficulties in relaxing and withdrawing from social activities.
AS and A-level results will be available on Thursday, with GCSE results to follow on August 22.
